Alright, if ur alt isnt charging its either gonna 1 of the 2 things or even both so this is what i want u to do.......

First jack ur car up high enough for some elbow room, when u have done that check and make sure all connections that go to the alt are nice and tight. Once did that and made sure they were then u eliminated possibility 1, now for the 2nd possibility......I want u to disconnect all connections that goes to the alt and very closely inspect all wires for any lil cuts starting from the tip of the plugs and up, chances are you'll find a cut or burn i would kno my friends 98 neon did the same thing so i took the whole harness out and took off all the tape and wire loom and did a complete search. I found to spots that were cut, 1 was at the end of the connector and the other was 8 inches away from that.

As for the computer......i wouldnt worry about that cuz if it was it wouldnt start at all.

Latest checks/stuff done:

Replaced Alternater...no reponse
Took out computer and cleaned debris out of connectors and under metal protector.
Cleaned the Fuse Block in engine bay.
Visual Inspection of wires from computer to back of engine from top view and everything seems fine.
Found out battery wasnt taking a charge now, so replaced today

Current Status: Still stupid friggen Light.

Future attempts:
Gonna lift car and check connections underneath

If that all fails i'll prolly have to friggen spend $100 just for dodge to hook it up to Diagnostics....prolly end up spending $300 there....which i dont really have laying around lol. Im still wondering if the PCM is at fault here....cuz that's where the Voltage Regulator is....that controls the altenator. and if that's the case I'll just go buy the Mopar Performance PCM. Since is about the same price as a new OEM one

havent gotten to looking undercar at wiring to the alternator....but i hooked up battery tester and for comparision i hooked up to my mom's car, and after waiting the 10 sec load on time my car reads 11 volts with holding the the load switch and 12 volts without it held.... all while car is running.....my mom's car ( 2000 pontiac grand am gt) held load on and read nothing at all and when let go read 14volt while car running....

sooo my alternator is at fault im assumeing.....but not understanding my mom's car reading with nothing shown while load on.....weird but that's not my problem lol

(and kinda hard to get into my shop with my brother's Jeep Engine swap going on...im not huge fan of working in the snow and melting ice under my car...just to look at seemingly endless amounts of wires just to get wet and mad at the car)

Im actually debateing on either getting another car for the time being or getting 2.4l to drop in to replace my 160k engine and newer tranny since mine is on its way out (pops out of 5th)

ok so charging problem??? remove wiring harness from motor should be easy connects to all the sensors and alternator when harness is out remove tape or wiring cover(the plastic stuff) and look where the harness is connected to the brace in the back of motor(brace goes from block to tranny) you will probly find all the wires there melted together.......repair them...easier out of car!!!! then reinstall harness and all will be fine!!! ive worked for a dodge dealer for 15 years and built many neons and seen it often.....good luck!!!!!!
